What is VoIP and is it for me?

VoIP is an acronym for Voice over Internet Protocol which sounds complicated. It’s actually a very simple and cost friendly process. VoIP is a category of hardware and software that enables individuals to use the internet as the means of transmission for telephone calls. In return you no longer need to have a traditional telephone provider.

What is VoIP:

Voice over IP converts your voice or live video into a digital signal and sends it over the internet. On the receiving end, the digital data is uncompressed into the sound or video that you hear or see through the device of your choosing. As long as you have a high-speed internet connection, which includes a router and modem, you are ready to use a VoIP.

Because it is powered by your internet it works even better than your traditional landline phone because it offers many more features than what analog phone service could ever provide.

Data Security:

Since VoIP signals run via internet, your data is stored securely in the cloud. Even though you may not have known, you have most likely already used the cloud. Cloud storage involves saving data on hardware in a remote physical location, which can be accessed from any device via the internet. Typically clients will send their data to the cloud for safe keeping. Dropbox, which lets users store and share files, is a good example. Cloud storage systems generally encompass hundreds of data servers linked together but the simplest system might involve just one.

Why businesses are choosing VoIP:

There are many reasons that VoIP has become so popular. One of those reasons being it's flexibility and ease of use. Companies are now being able to combine their cell phone, laptop, tablet, and deskphone to be used on the same number/extension. Another top reason that VoIP has become so popular is a reason that will resognate with anyone: saving money. You probably already pay for internet service regardless of which phone system you use. Have you noticed the difference in your home phone versus business phone bills? That's because traditional phone providers think that just because you own a business that you should have to pay more. I'm here to tell you, that is the furthest thing from the truth and you are throwing away money.
